oidentd/identd install problem
 

ok - I'm trying to get either oidentd or identd working, b/c I need to enable my ident on irc (just want to get rid of the nasty ~ )

can anyone help me? walk me through the steps?

depends on your setup. You need to install identd. And make sure its running. What type of connection and distro do you have?

I have a DSL connection, and I'm using RH8

but .... a friend of mine has been able to solve the problem

had to open port for irssi :o) and enable ident

Do tell what the fix was. Ive been having problems also w/ my dsl and identd. Never got it to work. Only explination i get out of anyone is 'The cisco 678 was never good at forwarding'. What kind of dsl service and what kind of modem?
