I've never used it but after some reading on their web site it looks like there's only a development version of Ogle DVD Player and last news on their web site is from year 2006. Here are FAQ about it,and really there are lots of issues with that software that you can read there, maybe it would help you to solve your problem, but I doubt it.Maybe you want to try some other dvd player because if it's app that's not stable and buggy,in development stage, with not so good hardware support and with limitations, then there's not much we can do except if you want to fix the source code.
From the package description;
Quote:

It is yet under development and has some limitations. The
following are not yet implemented: reverse play,
angle selection during playback, karaoke mode and closed caption
support.
This is the vanilla version, with no special CPU support. If you have
a recent i386 or powerpc, you will want to install the optimized package,
ogle-mmx or ogle-altivec respectively

well I did look in the faq and did not find what I needed (at least it seemed that way to me) the reason I used this is because the search I did this is the only one I came up with but if any one knows of a better dvd player pleas tell me.. I did try mplayer but it does not seem to work. kind of locks up on me..

well I tried both that you suggested I got no where on VLC it when I click (open disk) it takes me to a menu of servile options there, 1 is dvd (menus) the other dvd serval others which ill not mention but not any thing to do with dvd...

now under the menus of dvd and dvd menu are these

Device name (this is empty in the text field)
Title (0)
Chapter (0)
Subtitles track (-1)
audio track (-1)

when I click ok it gives me this... Unable to open 'dvd://' Now I have mounted the dvd so I know its not that... I also tried serval deferent numerical values in the title and chapter.. (I really don't know what I am doing in this part)..

next I tried xine.. I downloaded them from synaptic (I tell you so just in case that matters) now xine seems to have the same or similar problem that ogle does it cant seem to get past the menu after the first interdiction of the dvd clip it goes off and back to square one...

It should be dvd:///media/cdrom0 or wherever your dvd is mounted.Clic on the dvd icon then properties and then volume, there you can see where it is mounted and type that in the "device name".That should do it if you have all the codecs.
And one more thing,I just played dvd with Totem for the first time, since I didn't watched something on the dvd for a long time and it worked just like that and it's debian's default movie player,so did you tried it?
