Your superuser password is the same as your password. I have no idea of what a "supa user" password is.

Sudo user password lost

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have resloved the problem more by accident than by intention. I was able to reset the passwd using the passwd command to my surprise.

Using Ubuntu 14.1

Now wanting to change the permissions on a drive from read only to read write.

The following commands were entered.

odroid@odroid:~$ cd /media/odroid
odroid@odroid:/media/odroid$ ll
total 168
drwxr-x---+ 3 root root 4096 Jan 12 15:37 ./
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 4096 Nov 9 17:03 ../
dr-x------ 1 odroid odroid 163840 Jan 6 21:57 colin/
odroid@odroid:/media/odroid$ sudo chmod 777 colin
[sudo] password for odroid:
chmod: changing permissions of 'colin': Read-only file system
odroid@odroid:/media/odroid$ ll
total 168
drwxr-x---+ 3 root root 4096 Jan 12 15:37 ./
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 4096 Nov 9 17:03 ../
dr-x------ 1 odroid odroid 163840 Jan 6 21:57 colin/
odroid@odroid:/media/odroid$

No change to the drive from read only occurs.

Any hellp again would be appreciated.

I am unsure as to whether I should have sarted a new thread for this question.
