Oddly named shortcut keys

I have Ubuntu 9.10 and if I go into System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts, I see lots of Ctrl Key and Ctrl Alt Key combinations but I also see XF86Label keys that do not relate to my keyboard.

Can you explain what they relate to and how I can use them?

Thanks in advance

The XF86Something keys are usually mapped to certain keys found on some multimedia keyboard or laptops. They are usually for stuff like volume control, media playback, launching your browser & such things. If your keyboard doesn't have such keys, then they don't do anything & you can safely change them to something you can use.

Thanks for the response. I don't have any multifunction keyboards so its a non issue for me.

Isn't there a saying that goes "Neither a panerer nor a ponderer br"? Or something like that:-)
