Kernel version:
uname -r

Cool

I don't know why, .rpm is not work (for me) but tar is ok.
Check "make" and "make install" has no error.

Please remember to:
Add in /etc/modules.conf:

alias eth0 nvnet
options nvnet optimization=1

If you use redhat, then issue redhat-config-network and you
can see eth0 is then enabled.

For checking your linux version, there is a command, but I forgot.
I believe RH9 is 2.4.20-8.

Thanks for reminding me to do that. However, I get the same errors as when I used the .rpm file. I'd post the error messages (which i have on disk) but I cant since Notepad says that the files are "corrupt."

(...Microsoft will own you)

Bump...

Can we get this sorted out? I've never managed a successful install yet of the nforce drivers. The i810_audio driver in the kernel only plays 45 KHz sound (KDE sounds and such) for some reason, there's a couple of threads on it, probably in the hardware forums, but they haven't had a response.

kernal verion can be displayed
uname -r

ingy866 07-21-2003 03:14 AM

Are you asking me?

My kernel is 2.4.21, compiled by me.

I can't get the drivers to insmod or modprobe , it comes up something about the device not existing, when it clearly does exist. It does this for both the sound and network drivers.

Having some sound issues myself but try the alsa driver. It does work better for me.If you only get kde sounds try to disable the arts sound server or point it into the right direction depending on what you use for sound.
Anyway - if I try to play sound from two apps at the same time my x-server crashes.I'll try the nvidia sound driver and report back.
Keep in mind that there are two different versions of the onboard sound for nforce2 chipsets. One calls itself 'soundstorm' and the other one is just sound.lspci shows two 'multimedia audio' thingy's for my motherboard.
One is [Via VT82C686B] the other is AC97 Audio Controller.

Hmm... it may be working after all. It plays mp3 audio, it just doesn't play CDs for some reason. I have the original nforce motherboard, and I think I'm getting somewhere. I'll fiddle around with the module a bit more, then perhaps try the UT2003 demo. I thought about alsa but I've been busy with other things, and sound also works in Enlightenment. I'll fiddle a bit more and report back if I find anything important. Thanks :)

Don't know about Ut2003 but Quake works fine here.
