Nvidia Drivers or Bust

I almost hate to ask this; but after all this is the Newbie Forum.

I really want to install the latest Nvidia drivers on my RH8 machine.

Read through that post which outlines the procedure for installing the driver;
looks kinda scary from my point of view.
I mean that I probably would probably have picked the wrong driver from Nvidia.com site right off the bat had I not read the post!

Isn't there a way to point and click your way through the installation; and what happens if you screw it up? Can you just re-install over it? Or are you gonna be totally hosed?

Oh well.
You live you learn.
You crash you burn.
Then you RTFM.

Thank You for your support!

Nvidia drivers are now easy-peasy!

D/l the driver, exit from X, run driver and let it do it's thing, edit your xf86config file and enjoy. Really it is that easy, I've done it a couple of times and I am a total noobski.

Enjoy

Yeah, the size of that post should scare you, but it's so the directions are hopefully completely all inclusive and cover it for nearly anyone who reads it. Most of the commands are outlined with a code tag to seperate it from the rest of the text which is all explaination.

:)

Cool

-go here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-4363.html
-Download that driver, do a "chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run"
-then run it (i forgot if u have to run it without the xserver, like go tothe black screen)
-after that, it should be done, reboot if u like

i dunno if that is how u do it for RH but that's how u do it in slackware. But before u do it, u should also read the howto @ http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-4363.html
