nvidia drivers for fedora 8
I'm using fedora 8 on AMD 64X2 with 2gb RAM and nvidia6150 GForce Go graphics card... I feel my performance is lagging on both Gnome and KDE, but its fast on Fluxbox... Should I install any generic nvidia drivers to make my comp faster... Can anyone help me plz....

You may have the generic kernel driver already. It is nv.ko, which can be loaded with "modprobe nv". However, it only gives 2d graphics, so if you try to run anything that requires 3d, to won't work.

The only other nvidia drivers are proprietary, from nvidia, which mrrangerman has given you.

Open a shell/console (xterm or similar) and issue the following.

su -
rpm -ivh
yum install -y kmod-nvidia

Reboot and it should be good to go.

If not.

su -
cd /etc/X11/
cp xorg.conf xorg.conf.bak
sed -e 's/nv/nvidia/' xorg.conf.bak > xorg.conf

Reboot, and try again.
