nvidia drivers, can't find kernel module name

i am trying to install nvidia drivers on slackware.

i was gettign an error about an unknown kernel module filename, I browsed these forums for an answer and came up with the solution of running --kernel-source-path to the end of the installer. i get an error sayign that the source path is not correct.

-> License accepted.
-> No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; would you li
ke the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel f
rom the NVIDIA ftp site (ftp://download.nvidia.com)? (Answer: Yes)
-> No matching precompiled kernel interface was found on the NVIDIA ftp site;
this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface for
your kernel.
-> Using the kernel source path '/usr/src/linux-2.4.22/include/linux/kernel.h'
as specified by the '--kernel-source-path' commandline option.
ERROR: The kernel source path '/usr/src/linux-2.4.22/include/linux/kernel.h'
does not exist. Please make sure you have installed the kernel source
files for your kernel; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure
you have the 'kernel-source' rpm installed. If you know the correct
kernel source files are installed, you may specify the kernel source
path with the '--kernel-source-path' commandline option.

on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux
driver download page at www.nvidia.com.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

have you got the kernel source on your computer?

The kernel comes in two forms, the binary for your computer and the source code make sure you have the kernel source, you can get it off your installation CDs.

have same problem(although I'm on Debian) with new kernel 2.6.4 and newely downloaded Nvidia drivers which should be compatible with 2.6.x kernels although it couldn't find this path and I don't really understand where I should use this path and how to make it work... any suggestions?
