nvidia driver/kernel version problem

running Fedora 7

uname -r :

yum -y install kmod-nvidia returns:
kernel-i686 = is needed by package kmod-nvidia

So I went to livna and found the nvidia package for my
kernel, and when i install it I get:
nvidia-100.14.11- is already installed

I'm pretty sure it's not running because I dont see the
splash screen, and I am stuck at can I determine
if the module is actually running, and if not, load it?
