Nvidia driver install .
Hi
I have given up trying to get the ATI driver to work on my other machine ,so I have moved over to my spare computer . Intel celeron 2.70GHZ. Ram 255. Video card ,NV25 GEFORCE4 Ti 4200. I have reinstalled ubuntu 8.10 onto this computer ,and downloaded all the updates ,but still can't get the screen resoluton better than 800x600 . I have tried all the drivers in the synaptic package manager, GLX 180 GLX 96 GLX 173 GLX 177 GLX 71 All of these drivers have failed to work ,and also the one that the system downloaded from the hardware drivers in system administration . I have got the panel in system , administration nvidia xserver settings ,but on the settings I only have two options ,320x240 and 640x440 . Can someone please help me to sort this problem out . Thank you . |
My experience has been that you can get a real decent resolution if you set up your monitor's driver.
I used a generic SVGA driver for my machine and when I setup the monitor then it gave a few high res. choices. shoot i forget the file that you can edit or reconfigure it has been posted here last week I believe. but IF You need to, search for nvidia and you'll find it good luck. |
