ntpdate not syncing time at boot time--centOS 5.5

Hi Every one!
Previously i was working on centOS 6.3 and had installed ntp package on my OS. ntpdate was finely syncing time with the servers on boot. Now i am working on centOS 5.5 and did the same but ntpdate is not syncing time with the servers until i manually syn the time with the servers using ntpdate command.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Do you know if ntpdate is actually executed at boot? A log entry, perhaps (in, say, /var/log/dmesg might tell you what the problem is)?

A simple thing may be to check when ntpdate executes -- it has to wait for the network to be up (and would thus be one of the last things executed, well after inetd runs or the network manager, if you're using that, is up and running).

Hope this helps some.
