NTP sync problems (resolved)

I am having problems getting ntpdate to sync with my time-server. I have several routers pulling from this source, and it seems to work fine. The system I am trying to sync is a R.H. 5.2 running NTP: ntp-4.1.1a-2. I have tried to follow some of the troubleshooting guides, however they don't seem to address how to find the problem(s). I have issued several commands:

ntpq -p 172.16.1.1

It seems to find the server and it's upstream feed, and seems to be sync'd with a "*" before the first IP. However when I run ntpdate, it just hangs, or times-out. The software system time is within 10 secs of the time-serve. When I run ntptime, here is the output:

ntp_gettime() returns code 5 (ERROR)
time c1d2dc49.dc7d9000 Fri, Jan 17 2003 14:47:21.861, (.861291),
maximum error 16384000 us, estimated error 16384000 us.
ntp_adjtime() returns code 5 (ERROR)
modes 0x0 (),
offset 0.000 us, frequency 0.000 ppm, interval 4 s,
maximum error 16384000 us, estimated error 16384000 us,
status 0x40 (UNSYNC),
time constant 2, precision 1.000 us, tolerance 512 ppm,
pps frequency 0.000 ppm, stability 512.000 ppm, jitter 200.000 us,
intervals 0, jitter exceeded 0, stability exceeded 0, errors 0.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

**** Problem Found ****

It seems that the src.rpm that I downloaded had problems most likely in the pre-compiled files. I downloaded the same version, but in a tar.gz format and different source, once rebooted the sync problem resolved itself. No other changes were needed.
