Unhappy NT server ISP dialup (possible???)

Hello Iam a user of windows who wants to go on my Linux BOX . I have all my hardware configured (modem) and drivers seem to be OK.
I have a dial -up ISP that says in my "details" section that "they" use NT server and ppp tcp/ip connection.

I have "heard" that WINDOWS nt servers are not friendly to individuals who dial-up with linux.

Actually ,I tried to to use MINICOM (with my REDHAT 6.0) and dialed up my ISP( LOCALNET)and had my MODEM make the NOISEof connecting ,but no luck of further connection.

So am I a victim of a "selective ISP???

I heard Linux bypasses NT Administration...
anyway... if it is an ISP you could dial using DUN in windows (Dial Up Networking) chances are you can use it with linux. If you have specified DNS and/or a static IP you will need to find that info out from the ISP. What I do for my server (since it's a ppp box dialing a 2K server) is configure my PPP account in linuxconf and dial from telnet

command would be:

$/sbin/ifup ppp0 (connect)
$/sbin/ifdown ppp0 (disconnect)

try that if you need help let me know.
