i have installed ubuntu12.04. i tried to install ns2 through the ubuntu software center (in my desktop). It s not showing any search result for ns2. but when i searched for the same in my browser i.e (ubuntu.com/downloads->aps), it shows search result - discrete event simulator. when i tried to download it is asking for a suitable application to open it. i did not know which one to choose. i would like to install ns2 through the ubuntu software center.

My friend has also installed the same version and she has succeeded in installing ns2 through ubuntu software center.

pls help me with a solution to this.

Well, you could open a terminal window, and type :
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ns2
... and watch, if any error messages appear.


Note : The version you get from Ubuntu, is "2.35"
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/ns2

If you want to use ns-2.35, you'd probably also need 'ns2-examples'
http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/ns2-examples

Note 2. Also important : The package 'nam'.
