NRPE Problem

I'm able to run the NRPE plugin from the remote host and is monitored over at the host using Nagios. But for some reason, there are some monitored areas where this error is displayed --> NRPE: Unable to read output

I believe I already have typed in the commands to be run. any help?

Now I have another problem to solve, it's displaying a CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake. After making some changes to the nrpe configuration file, it displayed that error.

it seems that i still have the nrpe version 2.7 installed on the system. i checked from the other servers, they have version 2.8 and immediately i search and found a link for the download. when i was installing, i got this error message. checking for SSL... configure: error: Cannot find ssl libraries

anybody knows where to configure not to find ssl libs. as i think there's no need to have ssl as of the moment. thank you.

ok. i found a remedy to install the nrpe 2.8 but however here's the problem again. nrpe is not working properly. i installed it under xinetd. For some reason, it will not execute commands. It outputs connection refused by host. and the port 5666 is not listed as listening.

when i run /usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nrpe -H localhost

outputs error: Connection refused by host

can't connect also through telnet in port 5556.
