Nothing but mouse cursor after clicking 'install' in Ubuntu .....
Hi all,
I finally decided to ditch Windows. Went to the bookstore and bought two Ubuntu magazines. Both came with 10.04 installation dics. One has multiple flavors (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, myth, netbook, etc.); the other has Kubuntu only. Disconnected my C: drive (just in case!) and made my old D: drive the primary. Scanned it for problems and found none. I tried standard Ubuntu and also Kubuntu; also tried both discs, but I had the same problem every time: I select my username, timezone, partition (whole drive), etc., and finally click 'install', but then nothing happens! All I get is a working mouse cursor and the background image -- no progress bar and no progress at all. I waited a long time; nothing changed. What now? |
I have not installed the new Ubuntu but on Debian you can see a terminal output by using "ctrl+atl+F4". You may need to try a few "F" key variations if "F4" isn't the one for Ubuntu to show what is happening and why the install is waiting.

I tried it again today. I did absolutely nothing different. This time it worked.
