not sure what do download

Wanted to know if I am downloading the correct ISO for debian linux.
I have a k7D Master series dual processors motherboard. Should I download the i386 version?

Also, once I have install debian I would like to use it to write c++, java, and other languages. What programs would you recommend to get and where?

Thanks a bunch,

for C++ and other tools install gcc and their modules
u will get this in ur distro CD

also u may download i386 ,but u need to install the kernel with SMP support for ur dual processors.
that i think u will get an option during install

It says that i can download and install just the first ISO, but I see that there are about 8 more ISO. What do these contain? They are more programs for debian? Am glad am doing this, I hate all the garbage from having XP.

If you have a fast net connecion, it is a good idea to download the netinstall CD. It will install a base system and then you can just apt-get what you need. It makes for a cleaner system and you don't have to download all those CDs.
