not enough space

Hi, I am trying to upgrade my distribution with apt-get dist-upgrade. Unfortunately it says that there is not enough space on /var/apt/bla/bla. What can I do? I tried creating a soft link to a place with more memmory but this did not help.

Ok, let's see your hard drive specs, what you've tried, and what happened.

Also df -a and post the output.

Ok, here's my suggestion. Find a place on one of your hard drives with plenty of space left (/local for example) and move the entire apt_get download directory to that drive. Then go to the directory that you just pulled the apt_get stuff out of and try 'ln -s /local/[apt_get directory]'. Apt_get should work now. But having never used apt_get I can't give you much more specific advice.

bikov_k 10-21-2004 12:25 PM

I already tried that and it does not work. 10x anyway.
Maybe I'll repartition or read more about mounting and try to mount /local in /var/cache/apt/archives/ which might work.
