Not displaying movies on TV screen

Hello

I have managed to connect my graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128M) to my tv, and the tv image looks fine (I see the desktop, I see the contents of webpages, folders etc) but when I try to play a movieclip, the mplayer screen where the movie is to be shown is just black (on the computer however the movie rolls without any problems). I remember that in windows you had to change the main screen (or clone it if 'main' was set to COMPUTER), but I don't seem to be able to do this from the ATI control center in Linux. So the my question is, how to I fix this?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

try mplayer -vo (driver)
do mplayer --help to see which driver r available it may help
"-vo" stands for video ouput.
also u could try (if u havent) running mplayer from the console to see if there is any error.
