Not able to use Xorg with Puppy 3.01??

I owuld higly appreciate if I am answered promptly....
Problem is: With Puppy 3.01 i am not able to use Xorg..X does not gets started..although i can use it with Xvesa..

I am also using Puppy 2.14 and 2.15 CE and both run smoothly on the same hardware..I have got the file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) extracted out from both(2.14 & 3.01) and it has some difference..(I can post them here but i dont know how to post a file with this..if anyone can tell me dis)..
One detects my grahic chip and drivers(s3 grahic Prosavage...) and other does not..Please suggest some solution..
I also tried bt pasting the output of the 2.14 file into 3.01 file but it did not work either...

Also I need to ask if there has been some modification in the provided drivers in Puppy 3x series..???

Hi AliWaris, Welcome to lq. Does it drop you to a shell so you can work on the system? Have you tried running
Code:

xorgwizard
?
Good luck. ;-)

AliWaris 11-03-2007 08:15 AM

Yes I have tried:
xorgwizard
this gives a message of Probing with hardware and then tests the hardware and
gives OK report iwth all the resolution options. but when asked for a test with a specified resolution it does not gives any value against
vertical refresh rate screen resolution etc..
and when asked to start wioth same results produces an error asking me to start xvesa.
Thanx for the reply..hope to have something figured out..

Regards

Post your xorg.conf and let's have a look at it and see if we can sort the problem.
Good luck. ;-)

At first glance there is no Server layout, input device, monitor, modes, or device sections. Looks like the wizard is not setting things up properly, you may want to manually add those sections and restart your xserver.
Good luck. ;-)
