just installed ubuntu 10.04 since next LTS is coming out soon i decided to wait. my update manager saids my system is up to date. i tried downloading AWN through ubuntu sw center, but it didn't.
after i put in my password, the message said "Requires installation of untrusted packages" something about packages not being secure or verified, i click ok then nothing happens. it doesn't download, nothing is "In Progress".
is there some sort of pre-requisite app? could it be my connection? my wireless connection says it's at 49%, but i was able to download a torrent at 35%.
i've been reading the forums here, i found them very helpful and distracting i've read a lot of forums not related to my problem. if someone can explain why this is/isn't happening, it would be much appreciated.

thank you everyone!!! so happy to join forums that actually help. the sites helped, i read them ALL. and i guess i won't be using the GUIs, it just looked so easy... and i did get AWN to work using the commands (which i know i must become familiar with) easily. til now, i still dnt know how i got it wrong the first time, but having no feedback will not stop me anymore just have to say (even if it sounds pathetic), this is pretty exciting for me. feel like it's been a while since i used my brain. thanks again!
The GUIs are mostly frontends for command line progs and can lack some bug.
I remember a little bug in KDE Policy Kit that inhibited users from change system settings.
When a GUI fails try the shell
