Noob Questions : Backspace and Num Lock

How can I get Backspace to work in Netscape/Mozilla in RH9.0? In Windows XP, Backspace in Netscape works as "BACK" but in Linux, it doesn't work.

How do I get Num Lock turned on whenever I boot Linux?

The numlock setting is somewhere in the Control Center - I think in the part where you configure KDE (at least for Mandrake in any event). I just can't remember it off hand.
