noob question - whats the best redhat version

hi,

im trying to learn linux and install myself one.. need an advice if i were to setup a new server what version of redhat will be the best (bcoz i know the latest not necessaryly the most stable)

and another thing, what is the different between redhat linux and fedora core? as i know both are from redhat

I would just go with the latest release which is RHEL 5. If you do not want to purchase a licence, then you can use CentOS which is a free RHEL rebuild. Fedora is a distro sponsored by Red Hat. It was initially based on code that was supposed to be Red Hat Linux 10. Fedora is like a test bed for technologies that will eventually be incorporated into RHEL.

thanx a lot reddazz

i checked the the latest version for fedora is 9, but i can only find version 7 for download at http://iso.linuxquestions.org/distro.php?distro=2

so will u suggest i d/load Centos or fedora 7?

The latest release of Fedora is 7. The distro you download really depends on what you want to do. For stable production environments, then I would go with CentOS because it very stable and does not get as many feature upgrades as Fedora. If you just want an up to date general OS, then Fedora would be the right choice.
