Noob at Linux and trying to install my Wireless network
I have searched the net and I getting really frustrated....
I am running Slackware 12.1 on a VirtualPC I am getting really frustrated here because I have tried to edit somethings and it just tells me that the command is not found or that there is no such dir. If one or two of you kind souls out there could hold my had and walk me through the setup process I would be eternally greatful Best, Archiphile P.S. I am using a NetGear WG511TT Wireless card. |
Hi there archiphile, what exactly seems to be the problem. Which commands are not found?

iwconfig
/usr/sbin/ndiswireless man iwconfig to name the ones that I can recall... Thank you for the quick reply. Best, Archiphile |
If it is running inside VirtualPC, you shouldn't be configuring wireless, the host OS takes care of the wireless. You should be configuring Linux to use whatever generic ethernet card VirtualPC is running. It should be detected, check the output of "ifconfig -a", if eth0 shows up there, it is detected and ready to be configured. I would expect VirtualPC to have some form of DHCP built in, so something like "dhcpcd eth0" should be enough to get the connection working.
