Non-technical newbie question

I need help opening Adobe Reader on my laptop with Linux OS.
I downloaded AR and saved it to my desktop as a .bin file. What application do I use to open it?
I'm not technical at all and I don't understand or use "technical computer speak" terms.

Also, note that you probably don't need Adobe Reader. Ubuntu comes with a perfectly good open-source PDF reader.
