Question non-root users inet access

I'm hoping someone has a quick answer.

I'm connect to the internet via DSL. I can only get online if I'm first connected as root. Then, I logout and reconnect as another user with adm rights. This is the only way I can get internet access.

Is there a way to automatically connect as a regular admin user? I'm sure there must be, but I'm having some trouble figuring it out.

Can't you just configure it to automatically make the connection on boot so that you'll be connected regardless of what user you are?

*bump*

I wouldn't mind seeing a concise /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts addendum to help high speed inet auto connect.

I'm sure theres a link to the whole deal somewhere out there, anyone wanna contribute?
