Nokia N73 and Mndriva

Hi Pieps

Can anyone tell me how to connect my Nokia N73 to Mandriva 2007 using my usb data cable. I'm starting a course on linux and want to setup my internet to work from a mandriva platform.

Please if possible give me pointers on how to setup this connection.

thanx

First link is about connecting n73 via usb using 2 different programs for dialing up. Is your usb installed? Any other devices for usb that are working well? Like mouse or keyboard? I am using n73 under xp sp2 / pclos2008 and makes no difference am i connected via usb / bluetooth internet speed is still the same. 40 - 45 kB download 5 - 10 upload. I have even found bluetooth connection better because I had problems with being disconnected from net often, internet was killing other usb devices while on usb. Beside this nokia on usb used to crash my kernel. If you will try connecting via usb and you will succeed let us know how under link 1. If you fail? There is a alternative way of using bluetooth and you have manual under link 2. Having problems with any of these? Let us know under link number 1. We will try helping

Hi The Don

I am green as a cucumber myself in this but will try helping You.

Let me get it straight.

1) You have your bluetooth up and running
2) You got your phone connected to Your machine via bluetooth and its paired
3) Your kppp works with other modems
4) Your phone is going online if you are browsing www from handset.

Could you post the kppp console results?

Seems to me like your kppp is not configured properly. Settings for me were

Username = 3
Password = 3

But was trying without this and should work as well.

you can change the modem init strings below under modems > edit > modem > modem commands

Init string 1 = ATZ
Init string 2 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP"

Phone number = *99# (this gives the phone a sign to dial the default connection. You can add a different phone numbers as well for example *99***2# or *99***3# for connections 2 and 3 in the queue)

Auth = pap/chap

Let me know how this worked out for you.
Good Luck

Andy
