nokia c5 use via laptop
 

i have a nokia c5 which has gps, and a laptop with xubuntu.

i would like to use the laptop to issue commands to the nokia gps navigator and have the nokia screen and sound output routed to the laptopn screen and speakers. ie the laptop is serving as an interface to the nokia phone.

i can physically connect the c5 to the laptop by usb. then what?

any ideas/packages/apps?

Check, wheter the Handy is recognized on the USB ports.
Check the under /dev/ the devices relating to USB.

File Manager can see the C5 as a USB device and transfer files to/from the laptop. Nokia Connection Manager offers the following connection modes:
- PC Suite (only runs on Microsoft Windows)
- Mass Storage
- Image transfer
- Media transfer
- Connect PC to web

none of these modes enable Foxtrot to recognise the Nokia as a GPS receiver.
none of these modes enable the laptop to capture the nokia screen image

it doesn't work like that.
they don't communicate just like that.
do you have any reason to believe that this is at all possible?
have you searched the web?

and what is foxtrot?

As stated it does not work like that.

Looks like the typical Android or Iphone application similar to your requirements uses a serial bluetooth interface and sends NMEA messages which would be compatible with gpsd and foxtrot.

I do not know if anything exists for the Nokia.
