No .Xdefaults, .xsession, .xinitrc

I'm using Redhat 9 and I've been in the process of trying to get Fluxbox configured, mainly the aterm and transparency. All the tutorials, helps, and answers I see to questions I have deal with editing files like .Xdefaults, .xsession, .xinitrc, etc, which I dont have. And when I do create them, they appear not to do anything. Are there different files i'm suppose to edit in Redhat, or are they located somewhere other than the home directory? Thanks

if you're using KDE then the directory ~/.kde/Autostart/ maybe helps you.
you can put there any executable shell-script.

Incidentally a nice one with ~/.kde/Autostart is a symlink from an application in /usr/bin to have the application start when the desktop has loaded - for example

ln -s /usr/bin/kspread /home/<username>/.kde/Autostart

kspread starts automatically as required when kde loads.
