I am trying to revive HP zv6000 laptop by replacing windows XP with Ubuntu 12.04. In doing so I can no longer connect to my network wirelessly, also WiFi light does not illuminate. Does Ubuntu have a diagnostic program or any solution would be greatly appreciated.
Did you try the hardware switch? On older laptops, it's generally a physical switch on the side, but on newer laptops it's a keypress like Fn + F2 or something.
Sorry but neither suggestions had any affect. Driver check shows it to be installed and functional, but still no WiFi lite and no LANs showing. Hard wire eternet connection works fine. Also I inadvertently deleted device manager from desktop, snyway of getting it back?
Running the lspci command in a terminal should reveal that. Post the portion of the output related to the wireless back here, being sure to surround it with "code" tags for readability, which become available when you click the "Go Advanced" button to the right of the "Post Quick Reply" button at the bottom of the reply window.
