No video during install?

I've been experiencing this problem for a while now. I've had it with Caldera, RedHat and Knoppix. I pop in the CD and come to the boot prompt, no problem. From here it goes wrong. Caldera will just stop feeding video right away, when I start the installation, or the colors will go all funny, I'll hit Enter, then no video. Knoppix will put out a few lines of the boot, then no video. RedHat will start getting into the installation, then no video. The motherboard I have has built in AGP video. I tried disabling the onboard video and putting in a PCI card, same problem. This also pertains to my other computer, which also has onboard video.

Anyone have the same or similar problem? Could this be a hardware issue or am I missing something?

Thanks,
~Greg

have you tried any installations in text based mode, or only GUI ?
if you can actually get through the text based installation, then you should be able to manually configure your hardware to work properly ...
