no sound with suse 9

Both xmms and real player can find an audio device but no audible playback. The volume is up and still nothing.

1) What error does xmms give. Try selecting a differenct output plugin (right-click -> options -> preferences -> output plugin)

2) run 'alsamixer' (in a terminal) and see that both 'Master' and PCM are unmuted

The only thing that I can suggest is to remove the 'Mmode' option in (xmms -> options ->preferences -> configure -> advanced options) for the alsa output plugin.

I was having problems with my card being quiet, or really fuzzy at times. I had to change some of the options in the YaST sound module, you could try fiddling around in there. If you can get that to play then you should be OK.
