No sound in Ubuntu 8.10 on laptop with Intel 82801DB-ICH4

Hey all. I installed Ubuntu Linux 8.10 and I have no sound. I have a Gateway 7330 series laptop with on-board Intel AC97 sound. I'm a total novice with Linux but if anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!
Kevin

Hi kmkocot,

as root execute the
Code:
alsaconf
command in a terminal. I'm also running an AC97 onboard on one Computer, it should work.
