No sound in my SUSE

Hi.. I've installed suse 10 sp1. Everything seems perfect except for the sound. I checked out all options. It is also detecting the sound card(which is conexant high definition audio). But there is no sound in my system.

Plz Help..

Presuming nothing is wrong with your sound system then go to "applications" - "multimedia" - "sound mixer" then click on the output tab and make sure all the switches or (lights at the top of slide switches are green). Slide all the controls to maximum and if the sound hurts your ears, adjust the first control on the left.

I tried pushing up the volume levels in "volume monitor", changing the device in "volume control". I tried everything possible, but still no sound...

:(

Or you could
#alsamixer

look for the little "MM" or "00" under the switches.
One turn the voice off and one turns voice back on.

If there is no sound then you change switch.
I don't remember if MM is for mute and 00 is for on.
But you can check.
I also don't remember how change values to MM or 00 but it sould be very easy try different keys.
then press escape button alsa screen will go away. And you are done. Try playing some thing again.

I am am running suse at run-level 3 no graphics or alsa other wise I could have told you exactly.

I pressed 'm' to toggle between MM and 00. It worked perfectly. I closed it and tried playing a song and it did!!
