No sound in my fedora core 6 --- please help


Hi...
I'm running fedora core 6 and using only runlevel 3. I'm getting no sound while playing mp3s using mplayer. Below is mentioned lspci, lsmod and modprobe.conf file. Please help me.

Is your user in the audio group? Is the mixer muted?

How can i find whether the user is in the audio group? Also in runlevel 3 how can i find the whether the mixer is muted?

Use the "id" command and see if your user is listed in group audio (not sure if these is needed on Fedora Core 6, but you should check anyhow).

You can run the alsamixer command to change the volume/mute settings.

BTW, Fedora Core 6 is old and unsupported. You should seriously consider upgrading to Fedora 9.

thanks a lot. Alsa-utils was not installed in my system. The problem solved after installing the package. Thanks a lot again for the suggestions... Feel so much proud to be a member of this cooperative forum.
