No Sound in Mandrake 9.1 using Audigy 2 Plat
Hello,
I'm new to Linux, and I'm trying both Mandrake 9.1 and Redhat 9. I've been unable to get my sound to work. I have an Audigy 2 Plat. I downloaded the emu10k1.20a driver from the web; before installing; I shut down all servers, rmmod audigy, /sbin/lsmod, compiled the driver, installed the driver, and ran modprobe audigy. I still have no sound. What else can I try? Thanks!:newbie: |
Hail fellow newbie. I had the same problem with Mandrake 9.1.
This is simple and sorry if it's too low level for you. There is a program off the "Start Button" in Mandrake 9.1 called "aumix". Mine came defaulted with all the volume turned down to zero. I turned everything up to 100 and PRESTO! I had sound. |
Thanks for your help; I tried the auxmix but still no sound. Believe me I wish it was simple. Again Thank You!:newbie:

I now have sound!!!
My problem was in the Kmix in KDE; KDE is my default session and I guess the session determines mixer config. I now have sound in gnome session as well. I'm only getting sound from my center speaker and my sub-woofer; but none from the front-LR seapers of rear LR speakers. MP3s play but not CDs. If anyone has any suggestions on those issues let me know. The sound that I do have is very good.
Thanks!:newbie: |
