No sound in fresh install


Hi,

I've installed Mint 13 and I can see evidence of audio file being played I can't hear anything? Alsamixer doesnt seem to be muted?

Any comments please.

I'm not sure but maybe this will help.

Try to add
Code:
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=3stack-dig
to your /etc/modprobe.conf .

Also you might wanna try to run "alsaconf" as root to configure your sound card.

Thanks for your advice.

I hcan only find /etc/modprobe.d, which is a a dir. How might I add to this? - If you would please explain

If you don't have /etc/modprobe.conf file, create it.

I've just tried a solution from a similar thread - and it worked!
- just delete pulseaudio (sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio)
I now have normal sound.
