No Sound in ASUS K8N w. ALC850


i have this:

I can't get sound working. anyone know anything about this?

I don't see any mention of which distro you are using, so the advice I give may not apply because of different software on our respective installations.

I also don't see any mantion of what driver is required, and what you have done to get it working.

If you have the hwinfo utility installed, as root run 'hwinfo --sound'. It should tell you which driver is required, whether or not it's active, and the command to use to load the module if it isn't active.
