Ok, for the sake of completeness, let's make sure of a few things before we try any further steps.
Have you checked that the
linux-firmware package is installed? If not, make sure it's installed, and confirm you still have a problem.
Also, make sure your system is fully updated, and then try running the command below to see if it helps.
Code:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall alsa-base alsa-utils pulseaudio linux-sound-base libasound2
This will reinstall the ALSA and Pulseaudio packages. It may not change anything, but at least we'll know that everything related to the sound system is properly installed.
Once you have done the above, confirm whether you still have a problem or not.
If you still have no sound, then try what's in
this post from step 3.
But before you do anything, create a backup copy of /etc/pulse/default.pa like this:
Code:
sudo cp /etc/pulse/default.pa /etc/pulse/default.pa.orig
You will also need to edit that same file with root user rights, so append "sudo" to the beginning of the command-line. For example,
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/pulse/default.pa
Then reboot the machine and see if you get any sound. This may not be enough, and I do have some more ideas in that case, but try the above as a starter.
Let us know how you make out.
