No Sound Card found after upgrading Ubuntu

I am using Dell Latitude E5470 and I am a ubuntu user and not a technical / Linux expert. I have upgraded my ubuntu from 19.04 to 19.10 and from then on, my audio is not working and it shows, Dummy output in the output device. I have followed some of the instructions from various forums. But, no luck. My ALSA information is available in this link . Requesting support.

What you wrote is more or less useless. How should I know if someone suggests you anything you have already tried that or not?
Anyway, I think the upgrade installed an additional package (timidity) which grabs the sound output, you need to uninstall it (if not needed). But it is only a wild guess.

Hi from your alsa info

snd_hda_intel: `1s' invalid for parameter `index'
the model number is not working...and when you look at your loaded modules you will notice that
snd_hda_intel is not under All Loaded Modules

and our refs are:
Latitude E5470
Audio device: Intel Corporation 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family HD Audio Controller (rev 31)
8086:a170 (rev 31)
Subsystem: 1028:06de
I am on a diff kernel to you but me thinks yours is the last line of below command
modinfo snd_hda_intel | grep A170
alias: pci:v00008086d0000A170sv*sd*bc*sc*i*
I can not find the model number at this stage so searching for C230 gives me

and that user had missing please show the results to

dmesg | grep error
dmesg | grep fw
dmesg | grep snd
that last line, for a line that shows I have a ALC887-VD and I hoping your output might reveal more.

then we can load the sound model with a model=string from

if we don't find it....we can try some of dell models out

What is the audio chipset? The command lspci issued in a terminal should reveal this information.

Also, as Ubuntu uses Pulse Audio (which rides atop ALSA), I suggest that you install the Pulse Audio Mixer (pavucontrol--it's in the repos) and check the settings with it. Then let us know what you find.
