No sound after installation of Fedora 7 with dual boot
I'm a newbie and installed Fedora 7 with a dual boot with Windows 7 64 bit. I can boot Windows or Fedora. I have an AMD Athlon(tm)II X4 630 Processor 2.80 GHz. In Fedora there is no sound or internet access. (Windows sound and internet is fine). The sound error message is "Don't have the right GS Streamer plugins installed or sound card not configured". System reads a Nvidia corp unknown device 0774.
For the internet I use DSL internet connection. I don't know how to proceed. Can anyone point me in the right direction? HP model p6310 |
for the gstreamer plugin you can install it for fedora use `yum install gstreamer-plugin*` or `yum install gstreamer-plugin-ugly*` more specifically.
for the internet, have you configure it through the network device controller yet? that should be the first step if you have not yet. |
Thanks, baldur 1, for your help. I'm using VM Ware to be safe. I tried the, 'yum install gstreamer-plugin-ugly*' command to get sound on the computor. I received the message, "could not find mirror list http://mirror.fedoraproject.org etc", "cannot retrieve repository metadata, please verify its path and try again".
And I used the network device controller to connect to the internet, with no success. I'm a newbie and I'm serious about learning linux. However, It's clear to me, I need to do more research before I ask questions. Thanks. |
