based on the lack of info in the post, my reply is

run 'alsamixer'

That does not seem to work, or i may be doing it wrong. What other info do you need? Im using Suse 9.1 Personal

run alsamixer in console, maybe the controls are muted

are you getting any sound-device errors, did your sound-device get recognized on install, do you know anything about what your system is running?

what doesn't seem to work -- error message? what's it say? what are you doing, that you might be doing wrong?

not being up on SuSE, it'll take me a little bit to run through what they use, so i'll get back to this post later...

I don't think it did recognize it but it did recognize my sound card, but this headset it through usb. What didn't work was running alsamixer, not too sure if i even have that. No, i am not getting any errors at all, none. The only sound i get are the beeps from my computer. And no, i don't have an idea what my system is running.

Thanks

did you try to play some music with xmms?
If you use kde it maybe it's damn sound server arts blocking sound. Try to disable it for permanent in KDE control center ->Sound system ->disable sound system or shutdown once with 'killall artsd' command.

Go into your start menu, click on System/Terminal/Konsole
Type alsamixer
Use your arrow keys and make sure "Master" "PCM" and "Mic" are turned up, at least over 80%
"esc" to close
