No sound

I ve installed mandrake 10.I have no sound. Every application that i use to play an mp3,video hangs. The soundcard in xp works....
Nforce 2,ati9600 pro (the soundcard is integrated)

same problem check out my post (so far I have no solution), however one of the ideas listed in my post may help you.

You might have to start the artsd for this .
Or try usin mplayer , it works even when artsd is not started
artsd can be started just by giving the command
$artsd -d
You might also want to look at its manual
