No screen after upgrade from Fedora 14 to 16

Hello,

after upgrade from Fedora 14 tot Fedora 16 I no longer have graphical interface.

can someone help me search for the problem ?

Don't really know where to search for the problem...

After the services load at startup, there is just a cursor blinking at the top left, that's all.

Solved by re-installing kmod-nvidia

Apparently there was a conflict with a previous version...

fedora has never supported upgrading and skipping a version

fedora went to gnome 3 in 16
so none of your gnome2 settings will work

also fedora 16 switched to systemd

boot is grub 2

fedora is NOT the same animal that 14 was

fedora is not even the same spices it change WAY too much

you DID back up your important data ? RIGHT ?

reformat to ext4 ( 16 uses ext4 for /boot now ) and do a clean new install

then move over your data from your back up .

Problem not resolved.

After reboot I need to go to a new shell (ctrl alt F3) and do "startx". Only then I will have graphical interface.

Also Gnome3 fails to load.

gnome-tweak-tool does not work for me (a lot of error output) so I can not get my desktop items back...

Is this all due to what you post above ?

Also all Firefox and Thunderbird information is gone...

firefox in 14 was ff3
firefox in fedora 16 is ff 10 in the iso and 12 is current

so your settings might not work
but if you have a backup of your /home/"yourname"/.mozilla/firefox folder
and you made a json database back up
you can import it

I have firefox and thunderbird back.

However sunbird no longer exists in F16. I have a backup of my folder .mozilla/sunbird
Sunbird (version F14) did not start up well with F16 so I uninstalled (yum erase)

I have downloaded the last sources from Mozilla FTP-server and I can start sunbird by going to the untarred folder and run ./sunbird

It works great, but I don't have my data.

Question : how can I get the data of /home/.mozilla/sunbird loaded into the sunbird program ??
