Hi All,

I am having centOS 5.2 linux samba PDC.All my windows XP prof. client system (20 systems) using roaming profile while login in PDC.
The problem is that 2-3 systems are not loading their roaming profile from PDC from last 2-3 days.
The message appear some what like this:

No server copy of roamong profile found.user will login using local profile.this is because of network problem or insufficient permissions.

Please give me some solutions to this problem.

root# /usr/bin/smbpasswd -m -x machinename
root# /usr/sbin/userdel machinename$

Thanks thexplanet
My problem is rectified by reinstalling windows in one machine and deleting and creating user account from samba server for other machine.

Thanks for giving your valuable time and advice.

I am still facing differnet problem in 2 windows client machines(windows xp professional sp2) that "entire Network" icon is not appearing while clicking on "My network Places". This icon is available when we open right clicking on Start----explorer----My network places.

But when we click on that entire network icon it only shows single machine in a workgroup(i.e. itself)

I have checked on some other machine showing all workgrouped machines.

I have searched for that problem but not able to rectified.

can you suggest me what is the problem with these machines.

"My network Places"

Hey,

It's good to know, that u got that problem solved, and for your windows network one:-

try the following:-

1>Check the NIC settings, whether all set to same MTU/Duplex speed, Fullduplex 10/100 OR Half-Duplex 10/100, OR auto.

2>Check whether all Microsoft related F&P services and Microsoft client is installed.

3>***
Check the Master Browser for Netbios

Generally speaking, for small/Mid-Sized networks, you should make sure that there's
only one "Master Browser" enabled. If you have one PC that is always
on, make that your master browser; otherwise, use your fastest PC.

To configure a single computer to be the master browser is simple:
enable the service on one computer and disable it on all the others.

To enable it on the computer you chose as your master browser, perform
the following steps:

1) click START to open the Start menu
2) click RUN on the Start menu
3) In the new box, type SERVICES.MSC and press <enter>,
4) The Services window opens. Scroll down the list to find the item
labeled "Computer Browser" . Double-click it to open it
5) A new window opens. In the "startup type" drop-down box in the
middle, select "automatic". Click the START button, then click OK to
close the window.
6) Close the Services list window.

Next, disable the browser service on all the other computers. Repeat
this process for all the PCs on your LAN
1) click START to open the Start menu
2) click RUN on the Start menu
3) In the new box, type SERVICES.MSC and press <enter>,
4) The Services window opens. Scroll down the list to find the item
labeled "Computer Browser" . Double-click it to open it
5) A new window opens. Click the STOP button to kill the service (if
it is running). In the "startup type" drop-down box in the middle,
select "disabled", then click OK to close the window.
6) Close the Services list window.

Reboot all the computers on the LAN. Sometimes it takes a few minutes
after restart for the master browser to gather all the info about the
network before "My Network Places" is fully responsive..

(see BROWSTAT.EXE from Microsoft's Windows Support Tools package
#
for more troubleshooting help with the browser. Specifically, running
BROWSTAT.EXE status will let you know which computer is serving as
that PCs master browser )

Hope this should be the last thing which shd resolve the problems.

feel free to ask.

Regards,

Nitin Kushwaha
