I've looked all over to see how I can overcome this lot's of people have said to enter at Grub prompt to take you to recovery, however I have no Grub prompt and Mac is not booting from cd rom.

Please could anyone help and offer advice I am new to all this and do not have a clue so please could you give your answers in basic lingo please. Thank's.

Well, you're getting advice about Grub, because you're posting in Linux forums.

If you've got a Mac, this probably isn't the place to get useful answers. A Mac forum would be better, or calling an Apple store or support line. Since you don't say anything about your hardware or OS, a Google search can probably help you:
