No Net connection on Ubunto 9.04

Hi everyone,
I've just downloaded Ubunto 9.04 and it works fine except that I can't connect to the internet using the Mozilla Firefox browser. I am using a cable modem. When I try to connect it says the browser is offline. I tried pinging ubunto.com and it said no connection. I would be glad of any help please.

are you able to connect to your router or your modem via firefox?

Often on the side of the device it will show you an internal URL, usually something like http://192.168.1.0

You may need to change some settings in her or just hard-boot the device.

The ping says cannot find server which means there is no connection. I think I need to configure the NIcard. Does anyone know how to do this?

I'm really not sure, but since no one else responding I did a few Ixquick searches, see if this helps http://www.honeytechblog.com/how-to-...and-in-ubuntu/
