Are you able to boot to the Mint desktop by launching the OS from the live CD?
I didn't need to login. I ran Mint from a bootable USB drive. Unetbootin gives you a few options before the system loads and one of them is an Integrity Check, which gives me that odd error. I did a Integrity Check of the Medium and it passed.

I can run Linux Mint from the USB drive fine.

I do not understand this.
First you say:

So this would imply that the integrity check did not pass.
Then you say:

So did it pass the integrity check or not????????????????????
Keep in mind that that checking the md5sum of the downloaded iso, and checking the md5sum of the CD that you burn from that iso are 2 different things. Or checking the md5sum from the usb created by unetbootin are 2 different things.
I have never used unetbootin. Are you able to burn a Mint CD at the slowest possible speed and then boot from that CD, and then run the integrity check from that live CD, and have it report no errors??????????????
If you can burn a CD that passes the integrity check it should be good.

I would think that if you can boot from a unetbootin created live usb, and running the integrity check from that live usb passes, then the live usb should be good.

There are 2 Integrity Checks for the USB key for Unetbootin on Linux Mint 13. The first one did not pass but the second one did.

The DVD should work then if it passed the integrity check.
I have not used unetbootin, so I am not sure about the 2 integrity checks there.
