no internet or networking on dual boot

i am having a problem i am sure someone has fixed before. i am running 2 boxes, 1 a dual boot w/ xp pro and mandrake 10.1. the other i would like to setup as a file server for my band. i have a usr hardware modem, and both boxes have a linksys lne 100 nic. main box is an a7n8x-x mobo, amd 1.5ghz cpu, 512 mb ram, 250 gb hd, nvidia geforce 5200 w/ 256mb ram. all hardware is showing in mandrake, but cannot dial out or see anything on the network. p.s i am a true noobie, so be nice to me, lol. thanx..

What software are you using to dial?

Does it give you any error messages?

actually got modem to dial out, it is my isp that is kicking the fuss now, anyhow, all i am working on now is the networking thing.. say's samba.conf not configured??? lost, need help, wandering aimlessly..lol..
