They are right, though. GLXgears is shifty at best. Look at this.

matt@marcus:~$ glxgears
18436 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3687.200 FPS
31405 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6281.000 FPS
31414 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6282.800 FPS
31347 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6269.400 FPS
15852 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3170.400 FPS
20143 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4028.600 FPS
16339 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3267.800 FPS
Up and down...up and down. Doom III runs very well on this system, GLXgears is just smokin' crack.

now i am getting in the 6000-7000 range (FPS) .. useless
